National day of Serbia, ambassador Zaric hosted a reception in Tirana

Serbia , the country which has already begun negotiations for EU membership, has celebrated its National Day.

For Serbians it is a double celebration because it recalls the first Serbian uprising against Turkey in 1804 , but also the creation of the Constitution in 1835 .

To mark this special day , the Serbian Embassy in Tirana organized a special reception . To this reception many personalities of the Albanian state and the diplomatic corps accredited in Tirana were invited.
In the ceremony ,many public figures participated including the Assembly leader, Ilir Meta , deputies ,the U.S. Ambassador to Tirana Alexander Arvizu , other ambassadors accredited in our country , Honorary Consuls,among them the Honorary Consul of Mexico Ylli Ndroqi ,and a number of well known personalities in Albania .
The Ambassador Miroljub Zaric , explains the symbolism of this day for his nation
” This is a multiple celebration for Serbia because we remember the uprising of 1804 , but also the formation of the Constitution that made the separation of powers , the executive , the legislative and the judicial ” he said .
Acknowledging that his country is in an important moment for the European integration ,the Ambassador says that Serbia will continue its efforts to normalize relations with Kosovo , but will not change the attitude of its proclaimed independence .

” Serbia’s position is known .the dialogue and compromise of the two countries does not mean that we have changed the attitude of Serbia against Kosovo ‘s unilateral independence . This should not be an obstacle to the common purpose , the membership in the EU , “he said .

The Serbian Ambassador praised the relations between Albania and Serbia and expressed the desire to further strengthen the bilateral relations .
